32 page picture book:

"Momma, I Something You Don't See"

This book, in Carol Ann Lee's honor, is in the developmental stages.  We have compiled some of her favorite things – flowers, material, china, angels, recipe cards, and other special memora-bilia. David Arms, a renowned local Nashville artist, is using mixed media to help portray her compelling story of love, joy, and peace in the midst of tears, sadness and pain.  He has finished the first illustration, "Nestled in the Valley of Fernvale," and you can click here to see what’s sprouting!

Sunflower Seeds Press is sprouting another short chapter series entitled, "Animal Tales - Noses Included"

This short chapter book series shares true animal stories and is a unique approach to children's books  because we are looking for a child to help co-author this series.  In this series teachers and parents can utilize this project to inspire their children's writing abilities.  Another unique quality about this book is that the animal's nose will be included in the book. What a great way to share the story in “first animal person” form.  The children will enjoy learning not only about the animal, but the character quality that the animal symbolizes and the history of the region of the country where the story took place.   As a companion activity to this series, children will be encouraged to go to the website and write in their favorite animal tales.  These stories could potentially blossom into chapter form for a collaboration of mini stories to add to the series.

 Wild and Wacky Tales

"Wild and Wacky Tales" are thirty-two page picture books that all have five things in common - a snappy title, a cast of colorful characters, a delicious recipe,  a catchy sing-a-long, and an all important moral to the story.  This series of books will launch the company's inaugural game board incor-porating the characters from each of the books. "Under construction" is a CD that includes songs from the "Down on Friendly Acres" series as well as R. Friend and her friends presenting  one of the Wild and Wacky Tales, "Monkey See - Monkey Do."

"Peanuts, Popcorn & Quackerjacks" highlights the character trait of Friendship.  Quacker's friend starts attending a new school called Kritter Korner Kampus.

"Monkey See Monkey Do" highlights the character trait of Obedience.  Mischievous Duo finds themselves face to face with boa constrictors and. . .

"Pu - You Stink!"  highlights the character trait of Teamwork.  Penelope and Sparky team up with the stink bugs to save the day!

"Fiddlesticks and Gumdrop Bars"  highlights the character trait of Patience.  Written in rhyme, this book is all about Milly, Boompop and Mema.

Seasonal Series

The Seasonal Series consists of four, thirty-two page picture books for all seasons. To the tune of the "The Twelve Days of Christmas," the children find and count the animals living down on the farm. There will always be a twist and a turn at the end. R. Friend Author Visits include a presentation of "The Twelve Days of Autumn" as R. Friend enlists the help of several volunteer actors from the student body. This story makes a great addition to a school assembly and/or Family Night event.

For example, the "12 Days of Autumn"  is an entertaining look at the animals that appear down on the farm and prepare themselves for the winter ahead.
